Nine Month Well Check

Today was Luke's 9 month well check appointment. He had a good visit with the babies in the waiting room and some of their mothers, but screamed when the doctor examined him. Luke clearly follows the "you can look, but don't touch" policy. Ha! Stranger anxiety is completely normal at this age according to the doc, so thankfully he wasn't offended when Luke screamed until we were back in the car. No, all jokes aside, Luke was fine during the consult - it was just bad news when the doctor had to check his ears and throat, etc. Luke was still crying when the nurse came in to give him his shot and she thought that was great - she said for once it wouldn't be her fault for bringing on the tears!

LBJ is perfectly healthy and developmentally on track. The doc reassured us that just because Luke isn't crawling in the traditional way doesn't mean he will miss out on anything cognitively. He said the main idea is that he can get from point A to point B in some way, and that mentally it is more important for Luke to see something he wants and then find a way to get it. I assure you - Luke finds a way to get to an object he wants, whether that be shuffling on his bottom or rolling on the ground. Where there is a will there's a way!

We also got the go ahead to start giving Luke mushy and crumbly foods like 0-shaped cereal, mushed bananas, and steamed veggies. Very exciting! He can also have juice now and stage 3 baby food. So far, he only likes Gerber puffs in every variety and Cheerios. We are going to have fun with this one!

Here are his stats:

Weight: 27 lbs, 10 oz (99th %)
Height: 30 inches (90-95th %)
Clothing Size: 24 months
Tooth Count: 0
