12 Month Well Check & Self-Feeding

Luke had his 12 month well check today and he got a great review from the doctor. He was impressed with how well he is walking and he said that typically early walkers are late talkers. Of course, every child is different. Luke says a few words: mama, dada, yeah, that (sounds like "dat"), dog (sounds like "a da"), Grammy (sounds like "na na") and yesterday he said "got it". Dr. Leshin said that even though his words might not necessarily sound like our words, if he uses the same 'word' every time for a specific object, it counts as a word. We get to start giving him whole milk now and need to wean him from the bottle. He had another round of shots and I wanted to cry with him - it was horrible. The nurse couldn't believe how strong he is and she also said he is smart - he started crying as soon as he saw the needle. Poor baby. Here are his stats:

Weight: 29 lbs, 5 oz. (98%) - the weight of a 2 year old
Length: 31.5 inches (90-93%) - the length of an 18 month old
Head: 99% - the size of a 2 year old
Clothing Size: 2T
Tooth Count: 3

Today Luke also decided that he needed to feed himself breakfast. He wouldn't eat it otherwise! I helped him hold the spoon even though he didn't want me to and judging by the look on his face, I don't think he wanted a photo-op first thing in the morning either!
