Another month has come and gone. How fast time flies when you are having fun! Here are some interesting things about you Luke:
- You are incredibly smart. I know I am partial because I am your mom, but you really are a bright child. Your wheels are always turning and you rarely slow down.
- You are still obsessed with technology, especially cell phones. You also know the difference between the real deal and your toy phones. You even know how to check the weather and sports on my phone as proven by the $7 worth of charges you racked up on our cell phone bill. I had to de-activate the internet feature on my phone, so from now on you have to get your updates from the "real" internet:)
- You have to sleep with your feet propped up. Up until now, you have slept spread eagle with one foot on me and one foot on your daddy. Now I have a blanket underneath your feet as you sleep in your crib.
- You are drawn to the color yellow.
- You really tried to crawl today in a more traditional sense. The only thing was, you were up on your hands and one knee with the other leg straight out and you were dragging it behind you as if it were broken. It was pretty funny looking!
- You know the meaning of the word "no" and every time I say it, you look at me and give me your most handsome smile. Apparently, your dad used to do this to Mimi. What charmers you Johnson boys are! When I don't smile back, you cry because you know I am serious. I am doing pretty good so far maintaining my composure, but I have a little secret: sometimes I have to turn my head and smile because you are so darn cute!
- You can turn off the lights with the switch and must do this every time we leave a room. This has been going on for about two months.
- You learned how to wave bye bye when you were 8 months old, but I think you are on strike because you haven't waved to anyone in about an entire month.
- You LOVE our dogs and have to talk to them every morning. The feeling is mutual, but you still make them nervous when you are in your walker. You are like a mac truck in that thing.
- You are so strong! You push your high chair and kitchen chairs around the house when you are in your walker (they are on wheels). You can even push me around the house if I sit in a chair and help you get started. It looks like you are doing football drills when you do this. Random people have already tried to recruit you when we have been out and about.
- You have mastered the sippy cup and bottle. Instead of tilting up the cup with your hands, you just throw your head back. I have to be ready because sometimes it is instantaneous - give you your bottle, head gets thrown backwards.
- We are teaching you sign language (basic words).
- You love taking a bath. Every night, I lotion you up after your bath and then I have to put powder under your neck and under your arms or you will get a heat rash. I have to do it in the morning too. We like to call it baby deodorant. It really is necessary because you are incredibly warm natured. Just walking from the house to the car (parked in the garage) will cause beads of sweat to form on your upper lip.
- People stop us all of the time to inquire about you. These are the most common comments/questions and this is the typical order: Oh, he is soooo cute! How old is he? Look at that smile! What beautiful blue eyes! Wow - he is soooo big! He is almost as big as you are! How do you carry him around? How big was he when he was born? How big is his dad? I bet you get your workout!
- You are perfect, Luke and we love you the most!!
